Patchwork Starter: Make Your First Quilt is a beginner-friendly 8-week course designed to guide you through the fundamentals of patchwork in a calm and supportive environment.
Each week, you’ll learn how to make a new quilt block step by step, building your skills and confidence as you go. Over the first 5 weeks, you’ll create a range of blocks while learning essential patchwork techniques such as accurate cutting, piecing, pressing and seam allowance.
During the final 3 weeks, we’ll bring everything together by assembling your quilt top, learning how to quilt your layers and finally binding your quilt to create a beautiful finished piece.
All fabrics and batting are included if you choose to use the provided kit and you’ll also receive clear written instructions and guidance throughout the course. You’re welcome to use your own fabrics instead if preferred, though the course price remains the same whether you use the kit or bring your own.
With hands-on support from Bethany Rose throughout, you’ll develop essential quilting skills, gain confidence using your sewing machine and enjoy the process of learning something new.
In just 8 weeks, you’ll have made your very first quilt!

Pay in full: £175
Payment plan: £80 deposit to secure your place (this covers the cost of your fabric kit), followed by 5 weekly payments of £15.83 and a final payment of £15.85.

Patchwork Starter Course runs on Fridays from 2pm–5pm for 8 weeks. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to get settled in.
Course dates: Friday 3rd July 2026 – Friday 28th August 2026
Please note: there will be no class on Friday 31st July due to attending the Festival of Quilts.
A selection of teas, coffee and water will be available throughout each session.
