Empowering Creative Courage

Many people think that they aren’t creative, quite often it is because they lack the confidence in both themselves and their abilities, so we remind them of the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz because all he needed was a bit of courage and then he was 'King of the Forest', this can be applied to art and sewing as well because you will be amazed at what a bit of creative courage will do!

Courage doesn’t always roar.

Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’

MEET OUR TEAM

Bethany Rose

Bethany Rose is a textile artist who loves to create. With a fine art background, she skillfully blends her artistic skills with various textiles to create unique and captivating quilt patterns that appeal to both new and experienced quilters alike. Her ability to combine colours and textures adds an extra dimension to her designs, making them truly one-of-a-kind.

She has discovered improv quilting, which encourages her to experiment freely with different fabrics, bright colours, and textures without sticking to traditional patterns. This creative process leads to unique pieces that highlight her style and artistic journey, showcasing unexpected combinations and surprises that give quilting a new twist.

She finds the transformative process of cutting up fabrics and reassembling them into something new both fascinating and inspiring.

Bethany's work features detailed designs and a modern look, making her quilts both practical and artistic. Each quilt has its own story, showcasing her love for colour and texture. Her careful craftsmanship makes sure every piece is beautiful and strong.

Outside of her artistic pursuits, Bethany enjoys unwinding with video games such as The Sims, LEGO: DC Super Villains, and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Additionally, she delights in baking, with cheese and onion pie and biscuits emerging as her specialities, much to the joy of those around her.

Luna Ophelia Raven Moonbeam

Luna is our much-loved little helper here at So Northern, a truly delightful Havapoo who never fails to inspire everyone around her with her charming personality and playful spirit.

She brings unparalleled joy and boundless energy to our creative space, often seen nestled comfortably beside Bethany while she’s busy sewing, working diligently on the computer, or indulging in an exciting game, always offering her quiet yet unmistakable support.

When she's not by Bethany’s side, Luna happily entertains herself with her cherished Scooby-Doo toy or a scrap piece of fabric, proudly earning her well-deserved title as the Haberdashery Queen.

After a long and fulfilling day filled with activity and joy, you’ll typically find her cheerfully darting around the field before curling up on the cozy sofa with her beloved companions, Francine Fox and Sally the Squirrel, relishing the warm comfort of home and the love they share.
