Where Have I Been? Why I Took a Break and What’s Coming Next

In this video, I’m catching you up on where I’ve been, why I needed a little break, and all the exciting things coming next to So Northern Quilting!

Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster but you just gotta ride it, right? between the winter blues and having to pause my beauty therapy and nail technology courses for my mental health, and even dealing with a back injury five weeks ago.

But it hasn’t been all doom and gloom! I picked my nail technology course back up in February, and honestly, it’s been such a creative outlet. Acrylic nails are life! I also turned 32 in April, and even though I celebrated from bed with a cold, it was still a lovely day.

As for quilting, I’ve been making a lot, even if my sewing machine is still broken and so fucking annoying! The plan is to treat myself to a new one at next year’s Festival of Quilts, but in the meantime I’m restarting my Budget Quilt, which you can find more details about and sign up for the FREE course here!

And the ideas don’t stop there, I’ve got a whole list of fun videos, tutorials, and mini-projects I want to share with you soon. Think Stitch Bunnies (pin cushions), tote bags, zipper pouches, handy little cases for those tiny rulers that love to disappear, and even a free motion quilting tutorial (especially requested by my Quilt Mom, Crystal).
And because no quilting journey of mine would be complete without her, you’ll also get to meet Luna, my beautiful, fluffy girl. She’s not just a dog; she’s the chief fabric inspector and my loyal Habadashery Hound, making sure every single piece of fabric gets thoroughly sniff-tested before it makes its way into a quilt. 🐾💖

I’m so excited for what’s ahead and to be back creating and sharing again. Let me know in the comments what you’re most looking forward to and if there’s anything extra you’d love to see, I’ve got a growing list and can’t wait to add to it!
